Hardware Pioneering

DireenTech’s experience in electronic hardware design boasts a spectrum of diverse industry applications. Our Colorado Springs team has developed specific interface control circuitry for systems like power and wheelchair control in the Neurogroove technology, which allows people with quadriplegia and other spinal cord problems to navigate wheelchairs or even a car. In this specific system, our electronic hardware design utilizes accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometer to create an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) to pick up head movement and position, which sends information to the software that allows the user to move the wheelchair or car. We developed an interface that can use a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) smart-glass technology to control a wheelchair. Other sensors such as sip-and-puff, cameras and GPS are tied in using Kalman filters to generate accurate, responsive control.

Our Experience

We worked with the US Air Force to research the feasibility of using General Purpose Graphic Processing Unit (GPGPU) hardware in UAVs to provide fast, autonomous target recognition. This hardware is capable of performing autonomous target classification, such as identifying cars, people, animals, buildings, etc., within an image.

DireenTech has experience designing switch mode power supplies, motor control circuitry, digital circuitry, FPGAs, analog circuitry, RF and microwave circuitry.  DireenTech designed a novel neon light ballast with switch mode power supplies, and microprocessor control for a unique lighting system.
